Ratia, January 23: On the auspicious occasion of Saraswati Mahotsav 2026, a grand event featuring diverse educational activities dedicated to knowledge, culture, and creativity was organized at Shaheed Davinder Singh Government Post Graduate Women's College. The program commenced with the formal worship of Goddess Saraswati, in which the college principal Paramjit Sandha, convener Prof. Surendra Sharma, faculty members, and students participated.
On this occasion, quiz, speech, and essay writing competitions were organized, in which the college students enthusiastically participated. The objective of the competitions was to encourage knowledge acquisition, logical reasoning, expression skills, and creative writing among the students. In the quiz competition, the students demonstrated their excellent understanding of the importance of Goddess Saraswati, while in the speech and essay writing competitions, clarity of thought, linguistic accuracy, and originality were particularly evident.
In the quiz competition, Sunita Vartiya (BA Second Year) secured the first position, Ekta Rani (BA Final Year) secured the second position, and Kamaljeet (MA Hindi Final Year) secured the third position. In the speech competition, Ekta Rani (BA Final Year) secured the first position, Sweena (B.Com Final Year) secured the second position, and Chanto (MA Hindi Final Year) secured the third position. In the essay writing competition, Nirmal Devi (MA Hindi Final Year) secured the first position, Pradeep Rani (MA Hindi Final Year) secured the second position, and Gurpreet Kaur (BA Final Year) secured the third position.
Presiding over the program, Principal Mr. Paramjit Sandha, in his address, highlighted the importance of Saraswati Mahotsav and said that Goddess Saraswati is a symbol of knowledge, wisdom, and values. Such events contribute to the intellectual development of the students as well as build their self-confidence. Convener Prof. Surendra Sharma, in his address, said that the objective of Saraswati Mahotsav is to inspire students towards study, contemplation, and creativity, so that they can play a positive role in the development of society and the nation.
At the end of the program, the successful participants were felicitated, and the college family expressed its gratitude to all the participants, judges, and the organizing committee for the successful organization of the event. Dr. Sain Kumar, Dr. Swati, Prof. Bindu, Mukta Sharma, and students were present on this occasion.
