Hoshiarpur: Karamjit Kaur, Chairperson of the District Planning Board, thanked the Governor of Punjab, stating that his approval of the Punjab government's significant decision—"The Punjab Regulation of Fees of Unaided Educational Institutions (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026"—marks a historic step in the interest of lakhs of students and parents across the state.
Chairperson Karamjit Kaur remarked that the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, views education not as a business but as a fundamental right of every child. Guided by this vision, the government has taken this strict, pro-public legal measure to curb the arbitrary fee hikes imposed by private schools.
She stated that with the implementation of this ordinance, no private school will be able to increase fees by more than 5 percent at its own discretion. This will provide significant relief to middle-class and economically weaker families, thereby reducing the unnecessary financial burden on parents.
The Chairperson added that the Aam Aadmi Party government is fulfilling every promise made to the public. Delivering education, healthcare, and other basic amenities to the people in a transparent and affordable manner remains a top priority for the government.
