Fatehabad, October 23 (Advocate Gurpreet Singh Mander):- The BJP government in Haryana is conspiring to hand over the electricity department to private players, putting public and employees’ interests aside. The decision to grant a parallel electricity distribution licence to the private company ‘Eleven Power’ for 25 years in Gurugram and Nuh districts is completely anti-employee and anti-public. We will not allow this dictatorial policy of the government to be implemented at any cost. The INLD stands firmly with electricity employees in their struggle.
Sunaina Chautala, INLD’s state in-charge for women’s affairs, made these remarks while addressing electricity employees on Friday at the electricity substation on Bhattu Road in Fatehabad, where their strike continued for the second consecutive day. INLD leaders and workers gathered at the shop of party worker Bhagirath Soni. From there, under the leadership of district president Bikram Singh Hadauli and Sunaina Chautala, they raised slogans and marched to the electricity substation near the red light crossing, extending their full support to the employees sitting on dharna.
Addressing the protest, Sunaina Chautala said that the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission’s decision to grant a private company a 25-year parallel licence in Gurugram and Nuh districts proves that the government wants to hand over the electricity sector entirely to private corporations. She said this would not only make the future of electricity employees uncertain but also burden ordinary consumers with exorbitant electricity bills. She said employees were on strike today not for salaries or jobs, but to protect the interests of the public. This is a struggle for the common people, and they should support the employees. Sunaina Chautala said that when the state’s electricity minister was unable to manage the power system and had expressed his inability to do so, the Chief Minister should also resign immediately along with the minister. The INLD leader warned that if the government did not withdraw the decision, the party would fight this battle forcefully, from the streets to every platform. INLD district president Bikram Singh Hadauli criticised the government, saying that electricity employees across the state were on strike over their legitimate demands and against privatisation, causing inconvenience to the general public and farmers as well. Despite this, the government was maintaining its dictatorial attitude. INLD leaders made it clear that until the government revoked this anti-public decision, the party would stand shoulder to shoulder with employees at every step. Those present on the occasion included constituency president Angad Dhingansara, Legal Cell president Sudhir, Bhagirath Soni, Ishwar Dhangar, Ram Swaroop Duggal, Anjay Manju, Sunil Kamboj, Unnat Beniwal, Krishan Manju, Nafe Singh, Pitambar, Sushila Pilania, Anil Saxena, Aman Sharma, Rajesh Sharma and Sumanlata Siwach, among other workers.
