Gharshankar:- Today, the Gharshankar Development Forum staged a protest against the Central and Punjab Governments after the Railway Department closed the unpaved (kaccha) road at the Gharshankar Railway Crossing.
This road was constructed by Sant Baba Satnam Singh of Killa Anandgarh Sahib. The local MLA Jai Kishan Roti had claimed that they would construct and pave the road up to Panam, but it turned out to be just an empty promise (jumla). Till date, even the feasibility tender report has not been submitted. This is a complete betrayal with the people.
Earlier, the Gharshankar Development Forum had submitted a memorandum to Shri Avinash Rai Khanna, who had assured them that this unpaved road would not be allowed to be closed.
The Gharshankar Development Forum warned the Punjab and Central Governments that if this road is not reopened and a city bypass is not constructed, they will launch a strong and intense agitation.
