Patiala, July 31:- The Class Fourth Government Employees Union Punjab (1680) celebrated the martyrdom day of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Udham Singh by gathering at the union office Rajpura Colony. On this occasion, the union leaders and members paid tribute to Shaheed Udham Singh and paid homage to his unparalleled sacrifice towards the country.
During the meeting held on this occasion, there was a demand to regularize the services of work-charge, temporary, daily wage, ad hoc, outsource and part-time employees serving for a long time in the government and semi-government institutions of Punjab, to end the contractual system and to deploy outsourced employees in the departments.
The union leaders said that mid-day meal workers, school cleaners and watchmen are being paid very low salaries, while they are being exploited by taking more than one job. Apart from this, there was a demand for early fulfillment of other pending demands including release of dearness allowance and restoration of old pension scheme.
It was decided in the meeting that a 24-hour hunger strike will be held on August 14 and 15 at the District Civil Surgeon's Office/Mata Kaushalya Hospital Complex, Patiala regarding these demands, in which 21 leaders will participate. After this, a flag march will also be taken out on August 15 on the occasion of Independence Day.
Darshan Singh Lubana, Deep Chand Hans, Ram Lal Rama, Ram Prasad Sahota, Rajesh Golu, Arun Kumar, Shiv Charan, Lakhvir Singh, Sunil Dutt, Gurdarshan Singh, Rajesh Kumar, Balvir Bali, Dharmendra, Prakash Lubana, Satinarayan Goni, Meenu, Sunita, Parvinder, Satnam Singh, Gurinder Singh, Prem Chawla, Daya Shankar and other members were present in this gathering.
