Chandigarh/Amritsar:- As per the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, achieving great success in the campaign to make Punjab a safe state, Amritsar Commissionerate Police (CP) has arrested four operatives of a narco-arms smuggling module from across the border with 1.5 kg. This module has been busted with heroin and drug money worth Rs 1.98 lakh. This information was given here today by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav.
The arrested persons have been identified as Jaskinder Singh alias Sikander, Harpal Singh, Gurmukh Singh and Sukhdeep Singh Janme. All these accused are residents of village Rania in Amritsar. Apart from recovering heroin and drug money, the police teams have also seized two modern Pakistan ordinances including pistols, out of which one is a 9 mm pistol and one is a .30 bore pistol, 34 factory-made live cartridges (POF) have also been recovered.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused, in connivance with foreign handlers, were in touch with Pakistan-based smugglers through social media platforms. He said that the arrested persons were receiving consignments of illegal arms and heroin being sent to various places in Punjab by taking drones across the border on the instructions of their handlers.
