Bathinda, June 3: Under the first phase of Census 2027—which encompasses house listing and household enumeration—the fieldwork across the entire district is scheduled to be completed by June 13, 2026. During this period, enumerators and supervisors are going door-to-door to collect census-related information from residents.
This information was shared by Additional Deputy Commissioner Ms. Kanchan while addressing a crucial meeting of field officials involved in the census operations. She explained that during the first phase—specifically from May 15 to May 18—enumerators prepared notional maps for their respective allocated House Listing Blocks (HLBs). Subsequently, the house listing work commenced on May 19, during which details regarding residential conditions, household assets, and basic amenities are being collected.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kanchan directed the enumerators and supervisors to execute this task with diligence and efficiency, strictly adhering to the prescribed census guidelines and procedures. She also advised the officials to take necessary precautions amidst the prevailing hot weather conditions and to prioritize conducting fieldwork during the morning and evening hours for their safety.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner also appealed to the residents to extend their full cooperation to the census teams and to provide accurate information. She emphasized that only accurate data provided by the public can render developmental schemes, infrastructure expansion, and the improvement of government services more effective. Furthermore, she reviewed the progress and quality of the work to ensure that the Census 2027 activities in the district are completed in a smooth, effective, and timely manner.
