Chandigarh, November 4 - The Haryana Government has issued new instructions to ensure smooth implementation of the financial assistance scheme of Rs 51,000 to be provided for the marriage of granddaughters, dependent sisters and granddaughters of freedom fighters and Indian National Army (INA) personnel of the state.
According to a letter issued by Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Rastogi, the government has clarified that if any freedom fighter or INA personnel and their widow have passed away, the son or daughter-in-law of that freedom fighter will also be able to apply for financial assistance of Rs 51,000 on the marriage of his daughter (granddaughter of a freedom fighter).
This decision has been taken with the aim of removing the practical ambiguities in the earlier instructions and to remove the difficulties faced by the eligible families in getting assistance.
According to the new instructions, the application will have to be made through the concerned Deputy Commissioner within six months from the date of marriage and a maximum of 12 months (including valid reasons in special circumstances). After scrutiny, the Deputy Commissioner will send the application to the Chief Secretary for approval. The payment will be arranged by the Administrator General and Official Trustee-cum-Treasurer, Charitable Endowments Haryana.
The government has also clarified that to ensure transparency, this financial assistance will be given only through direct DBT through Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.
The National Informatics Centre (NIC) has been directed to develop a web-based system for online application of Kanyadan Grant under this scheme. This will enable the beneficiaries to monitor the online application and its status.
