Chandigarh/Narnaul, January 20, 2026:- An incident in Narnaul in Mahendragarh district has shaken the journalism world. Senior journalist Balwan Sharma, Bureau Chief of Dainik Jagran, Mahendragarh, was attacked inside his house.
Strongly condemning the attack, Shramik Journalists' Association, Haryana founder and state president Dr. Indu Bansal demanded justice for the victim and demanded strictest action against the attackers.
According to the information received, the number of attackers during the attack is estimated to be 7 to 8, some of whom entered the house, while the rest of the accused were guarding outside.
According to eyewitnesses, a black vehicle was also seen at the scene. Journalist Balwan Sharma, who was seriously injured in the attack, was immediately admitted to a local hospital for treatment, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
On receiving information about the incident, Nornol Superintendent of Police Pooja Vashisht took cognizance of the matter and spoke to the victim over the phone, assuring her of appropriate action against the attackers. She said that law and order will not be allowed to deteriorate at any cost.
Dr. Bansal said that this attack on the Nornol journalist is highly condemnable. Shramik Journalists Association Haryana strongly condemns this incident and demands justice for the victim.
Dr. Bansal said that such incidents are happening to journalists every day across the country and the state. Therefore, it is necessary to implement the Journalists Protection Act. Shramik Journalists Association Haryana will soon hold a massive protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar demanding the implementation of the Journalists Protection Act.
