Dirba/Sangrur, September 1:- Punjab Finance Minister and Dirba MLA Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is giving high priority to the comprehensive development of villages and strengthening rural infrastructure. As part of these efforts, development works worth around ?3 crore have been completed in Dyalgarh Jejian village over the past four and a half years.
During his visit to the village today, the Finance Minister inaugurated the Panchayat Bhawan, two roads and a street constructed at a cost of ?1.44 crore. He also handed over cheques worth ?35 lakh to the Gram Panchayat for undertaking further development works as per the requirements of the village.
Speaking on the occasion, Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema said that the development works completed in Dyalgarh Jejian reflect the government’s commitment to ensuring quality infrastructure and essential civic amenities in rural areas. He said that the newly constructed roads would improve connectivity and facilitate smoother movement for residents, while the Panchayat Bhawan would provide a dedicated space for administrative and community activities.
He said that the government is ensuring that development funds are utilised in accordance with local priorities and the genuine requirements of residents. The additional ?35 lakh released today would be utilised for further works aimed at improving facilities and infrastructure in the village.
The Finance Minister emphasised that the true measure of development is the positive difference it makes in the daily lives of people. He said that the government is therefore focusing on strengthening roads, drainage, community infrastructure and other essential facilities across villages of the Dirba Assembly Constituency.
He reiterated that no village in the constituency would be left behind in the development process. Legitimate demands of residents are being taken up on priority, while new projects will continue to be initiated according to local needs. He assured the people that adequate funds would be made available for the continued development of the constituency.
Those present on the occasion included OSD Tapinder Singh Sohi, Market Committee Dirba Chairperson Jasbir Kaur Shergill, Chairman Nagar Sudhar Trust Sangrur Pritam Singh Peetu, Sarpanch Amarjit Kaur Shergill Jeji, Lakhwinder Singh Jeji, along with Gram Panchayat representatives, prominent residents, party workers and a large number of villagers.
