Mahilpur:- Lok Sabha member Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal has written a letter to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi requesting him to reschedule the date of presentation of Union Budget 2026-27, which is currently fixed on 1st February 2026, as the Gurpurab of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji is being celebrated on this day.
Dr. Chabbewal said in his letter that Guru Ravidass Gurpurab is celebrated on a large scale by crores of devotees across the country, especially in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Delhi. Religious Nagar Kirtans and Langars are organized on this day. He said that Union Budget is an important national work, which affects every section of the country.
In such a situation, by moving its presentation forward or backward by one or two days, the devotees will get an opportunity to celebrate the holy day with full devotion and also be a part of the presentation of the budget. Dr. Chabbewal also said that there is no constitutional bar to changing the date within the duration of the budget session, and the budget has been presented on different dates in the past as well.
He hoped that the government will take this decision keeping in mind the sentiments of lakhs of devotees, which will further strengthen social harmony.
