Haroli/Una, April 15(Rajveer Chopra): The 135th birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor in Samoor Kalan and Barnoh of Una district. The grand event was organized by the Shri Guru Ravidas Committee.
Advocate Naresh Kumar (President, District Una, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jan Kalyan Foundation of Himachal Pradesh) attended the program as the chief guest. Harichand Sandhu, Naresh Katnoria, Krishna, and Ashwini were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest Naresh Kumar highlighted the ideals of Baba Saheb and emphasized the need to adopt Dr. Ambedkar’s principles in daily life. He particularly urged the youth to follow the message of “Educate, Organize, and Struggle” and work collectively for the betterment of society. He also encouraged young people to stay away from social evils like drug abuse and focus on education and positive activities.
On this occasion, cultural and educational competitions were organized for children. These competitions were sponsored by Ankush Kumar, son of Shri Sansar Chand and Smt. Reshmo Devi, with the aim of nurturing young talent.
The competitions included quiz, painting, singing, dancing, modeling, and speech. Children were trained and guided by Bharti Dadoch, Alka, and Tamanna, and their impressive performances captivated the audience.
During the event, Mannat Kaur (daughter of Shri Ranveer Purewar, village Soud), who brought laurels to the area in sports, was specially honored. She achieved this recognition by winning the National Discus Throw event. All participating children were also felicitated.
Several dignitaries were present at the program, including senior members Dhani Ram, Mon Lal, Chaman Lal, Kishori Lal, and committee members Rajeev Kumar, Harish Kumar, Vinod Kumar, Sunny Kumar, Jeevan Bharmota, Rakshpal, Surjeet, Rakesh Kumar, Pawan Kumar, and Jeevan Sarwal.
