Karnal, March 6:- The dispute between the SHO and the doctor at the Gharaunda Community Health Center in Karnal district has escalated. In protest, the doctors have taken a firm stand and suspended post-mortem services, causing significant inconvenience to the families of the deceased. Meanwhile, several social organizations and villagers in the area have taken to the streets, demanding a fair investigation in support of the SHO. This entire incident appears to be impacting the district's health services.
At around 10 p.m. last night, the Karnal Superintendent of Police personally visited the CMO's office and held a meeting with a delegation of doctors. In the meeting, the doctors made it clear that mere suspension would not resolve the matter. They demanded that cases be filed against the police officers implicated in the dispute and their immediate arrests be made.
Dr. Anil Yadav, President of the State Doctors' Association, stated that a complaint regarding this matter had been sent to the Superintendent of Police via email from the CMO's office earlier this morning. Despite this, no FIR was filed or any concrete action taken until late at night. They allege that the police administration is trying to protect its own employees.
Although SHO Deepak Kumar was suspended and placed on the line duty following the altercation, the doctors are not satisfied with this action. They say that the case involves serious charges and that mere suspension will not provide justice. The doctors have demanded that a case be filed against SHO Deepak Kumar and other police officers involved and they be arrested.
The impact of this escalating dispute between doctors and police is now clearly visible on the public. OPD services have been disrupted due to the protest, and post-mortems have been suspended at the post-mortem house. This is causing immense hardship to hospital patients and the relatives of the deceased.
At the Civil Hospital, a mother was seen crying while waiting for her son's post-mortem. The woman said that her 20-year-old son, Sumit, had committed suicide by hanging himself at home. The police brought the body to Karnal for a post-mortem, but it has not been conducted for the past day. The family members say that at least emergency services should be continued so that people do not have to endure such hardship.
It is reported that due to this dispute, emergency health services at Karnal Civil Hospital have also been affected. This is believed to be the first time in the district's history that even the hospital's emergency services have been affected. This incident has angered doctors not only in Karnal but throughout Haryana.
The Doctors' Association has warned that their protest will continue until an FIR is registered and arrests are made against SHO Deepak Kumar and other policemen. They said that if immediate action is not taken, health services across Haryana could be affected.
On the other hand, several villagers and social organizations in the Gharaunda area have spoken out in support of the SHO. They say that suspending the SHO without a fair investigation is unfair. They have demanded the formation of an SIT to investigate the entire matter.
Villagers say that whatever dispute has happened between the SHO and the doctor should be investigated impartially so that the truth can come out.
