Hoshiarpur- Under the able leadership and guidance of Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman District Red Cross Society Ashika Jain, the District Red Cross Society has started a special campaign with the aim of instilling new hope and self-reliance in the lives of the disabled. Under this campaign, the District Red Cross Society, with the special support of Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), is organizing free artificial limbs and other assistive devices distribution camps on July 7 at Community Hall, Kamahi Devi and on July 8 at BDPO Office, Dasuha. Applications have been invited from eligible beneficiaries to avail the benefits of these camps.
District Red Cross Society Secretary Mangesh Sood said that this is the fifth camp being organized by the organization in the last one year. He said that the main objective of this camp is to help the economically weaker Divyangjans, who are not able to buy the necessary assistive devices due to financial constraints. The beneficiaries will be examined free of cost by expert doctors in the camp. He said that during the camp, hearing aids, wheelchairs, tricycles, crutches and calipers will be provided free of cost to the needy beneficiaries on the spot, while artificial hands and feet will be provided completely free of cost within 10 to 15 days after taking measurements.
The Secretary of the Red Cross Society said that some mandatory eligibility conditions have been prescribed for the distribution of these devices. Motorized tricycles will be provided only to those beneficiaries whose disability is 80 percent or more and who have not availed such facility from the government or any other organization in the last five years. Similarly, other assistive devices like wheelchair, artificial limbs and hearing aids will also be provided only to those needy persons who have not availed these facilities in the last three years.
Aditya Rana, Joint Secretary of District Red Cross Society, informed that all necessary arrangements are being made for the convenience of the beneficiaries coming to the camp. He informed that eligible candidates willing to avail the benefits of this special camp can contact on mobile number 81462-41296 for submitting the application and getting registered.
He also appealed that all the differently-abled persons coming to the camp should bring with them their UDID card or disability certificate and a copy of Aadhar card.
District Red Cross Society, Hoshiarpur has appealed to all the residents of the area, Panchayat representatives, Panches-Sarpanches and social service organizations to create maximum awareness among the needy Divyangjans living around them about these camps to be held on July 7 at Community Hall, Kamahi Devi and on July 8 at BDPO Office, Dasuha, so that maximum eligible persons can get the benefit of this public welfare initiative.
