Hoshiarpur:- District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain has issued various prohibitory orders in the district in exercise of powers vested in her under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Protection Code, 2023.
According to the orders issued, no person shall carry weapons in public gatherings, religious places, wedding parties/shariahs, marriage palaces or other functions within the limits of the district and there will be a complete ban on the display of weapons through public/social media and there will also be a complete ban on playing songs glorifying weapons or violence. In case of violation of these orders, appropriate legal action will be taken. Apart from this, the owners of marriage palaces will ensure that no person uses weapons during functions in marriage palaces.
Similarly, the Sarpanches of all the villages of the district have been instructed to keep vigil in the villages at night so that no mischief can be done by the evil elements.
Apart from this, there will be a ban on running illegal hookah bars within the district limits because such hookah bars use tobacco, cigarettes and chemicals harmful to the human body, which proves to be very harmful to human health and also has a negative impact on the society.
In another order, a ban has also been imposed on the unauthorized storage, transportation, use or sale of semen in Hoshiarpur district. This ban will not be applicable to all veterinary institutions of the Animal Husbandry Department including Animal Hospitals/Dispensaries and Polyclinics, Animal Husbandry Department Punjab, Artificial Insemination Centre of Milkfed and College of Veterinary Science, Gadwasu Ludhiana, any other Artificial Insemination Centre which is using bovine semen processed and supplied or imported by the Animal Husbandry Department, Punjab, members of Progressive Dairy Farms Association, Punjab, who have imported bovine semen only for the use of their animals.
Another order has been issued prohibiting any kind of procession, gathering of five or more persons, sloganeering, carrying sticks, unlicensed weapons, sharp knives etc. in the district without the permission of the SDM. This order will not be applicable to government functions, conferences, meetings etc. It will be mandatory for any political party to obtain written permission from the concerned SDM before holding a rally/jalsa. All these orders will remain in force till 7th March 2026.
