Hoshiarpur, September 06, 2026:- In accordance with the directives of the Election Commission of India, special camps were organized across various polling booths in the district on Sunday under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026. Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Aashika Jain personally visited around a dozen polling booths to review the arrangements and inspect the voter registration process.
The District Election Officer stated that the primary objective of these special camps was to ensure the registration of every eligible citizen as a voter and to provide all election-related services at a single platform. She emphasized that to strengthen democracy, it is vital for every eligible citizen to get registered in the electoral roll.
She informed that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) remained present at their respective polling booths, collecting Form 6, Form 6-A, Form 8, and supporting documents from eligible individuals. Aashika Jain noted that youth aged 18 to 19 showed keen interest in voter registration. Additionally, Persons with Disabilities (PwD) voters were identified, and Form 8 was filled for necessary marking to ensure accessible facilities during elections. The District Election Officer also expressed gratitude to the Booth Level Agents of various political parties. SDM Parampreet Singh, Election Tehsildar Ramandeep Kaur, and Election Kanungo Lakhbir Singh were also present during the inspection.
