Chandigarh, April 24:- Haryana Development and Panchayat Minister Shri Krishan Lal Panwar on Friday flagged off the awareness Rath Yatra being taken out under the drug-free campaign run by the Brahma Kumaris Sansthan in Chandigarh. This Rath Yatra started on April 19 from the Brahma Kumaris Ashram located in Thirana village of Israna area and reached Chandigarh today after creating public awareness in various districts of Haryana.
On this occasion, Minister Shri Krishan Lal Panwar while addressing the present crowd said that drug abuse has become a serious and worrying problem for the society today, which is especially pushing the future of the youth towards darkness. He said that due to drug addiction, not only the health of the person is affected but also his family and society are affected by it. In such a situation, the concept of a drug-free India is not only the government's but the collective responsibility of the entire society.
He praised the Brahma Kumaris Institute and said that this Rath Yatra being run by the institution is an inspiring initiative, which is instilling new energy, active thinking and self-confidence in the youth. He said that the role of spiritual organizations is very important in establishing moral values ??in the society and giving the right direction to the youth.
Mr. Panwar said that this Rath Yatra is organizing several awareness programs every day by going to different districts of Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. In these programs, people are being made aware about the ill effects of drugs through street plays, speeches, dialogues and public relations activities. He said that through this campaign, the youth are being motivated to stay away from drugs and give an active direction to their lives.
He said that the Haryana government is also fully committed to building a drug-free society and many concrete steps are being taken in this direction. The government is taking strict action against drug traffickers and the youth are being encouraged through sports, education and skill development so that they can stay away from drugs.
He appealed to the youth to join this campaign and play an active role in making their families and society drug-free. He said that unless every person in the society makes this campaign their personal resolution, then a permanent solution to this problem is not possible.
Meanwhile, representatives of the Brahma Kumaris Sansthan also expressed their views and said that this Rath Yatra is part of a comprehensive public awareness campaign, the aim of which is to make the country drug-free. He said that the organization has been continuously working for the past many years for spiritual awareness and drug-free living in the society.
This Rath Yatra will reach Jammu and Kashmir on 5th May 2026 after spreading awareness in Chandigarh and various districts of Punjab, where the message of drug addiction will be given to the people through various programs. The people present in the program took a pledge to build a drug-free society and assured their cooperation to make this campaign a success.
