Garhshankar, June 17: To ensure that the 'Chief Minister Sports Ground Scheme' reaches every village, Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, S. Jai Krishan Singh Rouri, held a special 'Lok Milni' (public meeting) today at the BDPO office in Garhshankar with various panchayats of the constituency. He clearly stated that the Punjab government is fully committed to strengthening the sports infrastructure in villages to connect youth with sports.
Deputy Speaker Rouri said that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the government's goal is to prepare modern sports grounds in every village so that the youth can hone their talent and get opportunities to bring laurels to Punjab at national and international levels.
He held detailed discussions with panchayat representatives regarding the construction and maintenance of sports grounds and increasing the participation of youth. He described sports as the most effective weapon against drugs. Rouri appealed to the panchayats to identify suitable land for sports grounds and send proposals immediately so that development works can be approved promptly, enabling the construction of the remaining 31 sports grounds as soon as possible.
The Deputy Speaker assured that no stone would be left unturned in the development of any village in the constituency, and every reasonable demand would be fulfilled on a priority basis. He mentioned that major efforts are being made by the government to make Punjab a leading state in sports once again.
During the meeting, panchayat representatives presented issues and suggestions related to their respective villages. Rouri assured them that the government would live up to the people's expectations, and every village in the constituency would be brought into the mainstream of development. He emphasized that the Punjab government's goal is to make villages strong in every respect and to make Punjab the premier state in sports by creating new opportunities.
