Nawanshahr:- In view of the upcoming monsoon season, Deputy Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh along with officials on Thursday visited the Dhussi Dam along the river Sutlej and the areas affected by possible floods in the district and saw the advance arrangements being made to deal with the emergency situation. SDM Nawanshahr Anamjyot Kaur was also present on this occasion.
Deputy Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh visited the Sutlej Dam at Burj Tehal Das, Talwandi Sibu, Mandala and Dhangarpur and inspected the work being done to strengthen the dams to prevent possible floods. The Deputy Commissioner instructed the officials to expedite the work being done to prevent possible floods and to start those works which have not been started till date as soon as possible.
He instructed the officers that they will inspect the embankments again after a week and review the progress of the work being done. He said that no kind of laxity will be tolerated in the work being done to prevent possible floods. The Deputy Commissioner reviewed in detail the arrangements being made on the Dhussi embankment on the banks of the Sutlej river to counter any possible danger.
He instructed the officers that the work for flood prevention should be completed before the rains, so that the people do not have to face any problem. During this, he also listened to the problems of the residents of the area adjacent to the river and issued instructions to the officers on the spot to resolve them.
