Una, April 9: Deputy Commissioner of Una, Jatin Lal, has issued an advisory to the Principals and school administrations of all government and private schools in Una district regarding the presence of bees, wasps, and other insects within school premises. He noted that during the upcoming season, it is frequently observed that hives of bees, wasps, and *Rangar* (wild insects) form within school campuses—specifically on building rooftops, trees, vacant rooms, storage areas, verandas, and surrounding vicinities.
Such hives can pose a potential threat to the safety of students, teachers, staff members, and the general public residing in the vicinity of the school. Therefore, from a safety perspective, all school administrations have been directed to exercise caution and ensure that necessary preventive measures are implemented in a timely manner.
**Precautions / Measures**
The Deputy Commissioner stated that regular cleanliness must be maintained within school premises, classrooms, rooftops, verandas, store rooms, restrooms, areas surrounding trees, and near the school boundary walls to minimize the likelihood of insect hives forming. Furthermore, periodic inspections should be conducted of building rooftops, room corners, areas above windows, surroundings of water tanks, trees, bushes, and infrequently used spaces, so that the formation of a hive can be identified at its very inception.
Additionally, if a hive of bees, wasps, or *Rangar* is found to be forming or is already established at any location, the school administration must enlist the assistance of the local civic body to have it removed safely. In this regard, students should also be sensitized periodically and instructed not to approach bee or wasp hives, throw stones at them, or tamper with them in any manner. With the safety of students in mind, areas where a potential risk exists should be temporarily restricted. He directed that necessary preventive and safety measures be ensured, while strictly adhering to all the aforementioned precautions, so as to safeguard the safety of students and the general public.
