Una, October 28 – Deputy Commissioner, Una, Jatin Lal, visited the Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Una, today (Tuesday) to inspect the government-run Mid-Day Meal Scheme. On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner not only thoroughly inspected the quality, cleanliness, and quantity of the mid-day meal being served to the students, but also sat down and ate with the students, experiencing the quality and taste of the food himself. During the inspection, he expressed satisfaction with the cleanliness and storage arrangements in the kitchen and commended the efforts of the Mid-Day Meal workers.
It is noteworthy that Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal has adopted this school under the "Apna Vidyalaya" scheme. He directed the school administration to construct a dining hall for the mid-day meal to provide better facilities to the students so that they can eat in a clean and comfortable environment.
Principal Suresh Sharma informed that the Public Works Department has prepared an estimate for this purpose. The school girls also informed the Deputy Commissioner that they are provided with nutritious and healthy meals daily.
**Interacted with the students and learned about preparations for the National Handball Championship
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal interacted with students from grades 11 and 12. He discussed their studies, future plans, and career options, and offered inspirational suggestions. The Deputy Commissioner reviewed all the school's arrangements and praised the school management's work.
During the meeting, Principal Suresh Sharma and Physical Education teacher Vinod informed the Deputy Commissioner that the school will host the upcoming National Handball Championship (Girls Under-19), which will be held in January 2026. Teams from 28 states, 8 Union Territories, and 9 special units will participate in this competition.
Mid-Day Meal Incharge Madam Pallavi Koondel, Pooja Koondel, and other school staff members were also present on the occasion.
