Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, November 17, 2025: A meeting was held today at the District Administrative Complex by Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal with officers of various departments regarding the advance arrangements for the Nagar Kirtan to reach SAS Nagar on November 21 in a series of events organized by the Punjab Government on the occasion of the 350th martyrdom anniversary of the ninth Guru, the cloak of Hind, Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. During the meeting, he said that a large number of devotees are likely to attend the Nagar Kirtan, which will start from Takht Shri Damdama Sahib on November 20 and reach Mohali for the night leg on November 21. He said that there should be no shortage in the preparations made by the administration for this.
The Deputy Commissioner discussed in detail the responsibilities assigned to the officers of various departments during the meeting. He asked the officers of the concerned departments to perform the duties assigned to them regarding the reception of the Nagar Kirtan and the preparations underway for the night leg with full responsibility and dedication, so that these events can be carried out smoothly.
The Deputy Commissioner said that four yatras will be held from 20.11.2025 to 22.11.2025 from different parts of the state regarding the martyrdom celebrations, which will end at Sri Anandpur Sahib, according to which one yatra under Malwa-2 route will reach Sri Anandpur Sahib via District Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, District Patiala, Rajpura, Banur, Mohali, Kurali, Rupnagar. The date of this yatra will be on 21-11-2025 at District Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar. This yatra will reach Gurdwara Akal Garh Banur on 21st November and in the evening this yatra will reach Mohali and the night stay will be at Gurdwara Singh Shaheed Sohana Sahib and Gurdwara Sri Amb Sahib too and then this yatra will reach Gurdwara Kartarsar Sahib, Padiala, Kurali. He said that all the officers should perform their duties with a spirit of service and give priority to the convenience of the Sangat. He issued instructions to ensure crowd control at the halting places of the yatra during the ceremony, deployment of barricades, signage and volunteers, cleanliness of roads as per the route map, immediate repair and maintenance, inspection and clearance of yatra routes, marking, water spraying, street lights, pruning of trees, provision of langar for the devotees, provision of drinking water, washroom facilities, fogging to prevent mosquitoes, making proper arrangements for the stay of devotees, checking of sewage, establishment of civil and police control rooms, traffic arrangements, parking facilities, cleanliness-sanitation, permanent arrangements for electricity and lighting, deployment of ambulances, food safety team, first-aid posts, fire brigade, etc. important arrangements will also be ensured.
He said that police force, duty magistrate and various sector officers will be deployed to maintain law and order during the Nagar Kirtan.
