Hoshiarpur:- A meeting regarding the rationalization of polling stations was held with representatives of all recognized political parties in the district under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Aashika Jain.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India, the maximum number of voters at each polling station has been fixed at 1200. In accordance with the Commission's instructions, the necessary proposals have been prepared after completing the process of rationalization of polling stations in the district.
She mentioned that after reviewing the polling stations in their respective assembly constituencies by all the Electoral Registration Officers of the district, proposals regarding the establishment of new polling booths, amendments to the names of some polling stations, change of buildings, and the inclusion of new mohallas/sections have been prepared.
During the meeting, these proposals were discussed in detail with the representatives of various recognized political parties, and their suggestions were received. All representatives expressed their consent to the proposals. The Deputy Commissioner said that all necessary actions are being ensured in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India with the aim of making the election process more transparent, accessible, and voter-friendly.
On this occasion, Khushi Ram Dhiman from Aam Aadmi Party, Rajnish Tandon from Indian National Congress, Jagtar Singh from Shiromani Akali Dal, Balwinder Singh from CPI (M), Bhushan Kumar Sharma from BJP, Election Tehsildar Ramandeep Kaur, and Election Kanungo Lakhbir Singh were also present.
