Hoshiarpur- A special program was organized by the District Red Cross Society at the Old Age Home and Observation Home located in Ram Colony Camp today on the occasion of the holy festival of Diwali. On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner-cum-President Red Cross Society Ashika Jain attended as the chief guest and shared the joys of Diwali with the elderly and children present there.
During the program, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with the elderly and children and presented them with sweets, gifts and other essential items. He said that the real meaning of Diwali is not only to decorate the houses with lights but also to spread light in the lives of the needy. He said that every section of the society should join such efforts so that social equality and human sensibilities are further strengthened.
The Red Cross Society provided quilt covers, woolen bed sheets, sweets and dry fruits to 20 residents of the old age home. On this occasion, the residents of the home also captivated everyone by singing Diwali songs and performing Bhajans.
The children of the Observation Home were presented with 1 water purifier (RO system), 2 smart LED TVs (55 inches), 20 sleeping mattresses, 80 plates, 100 spoons and 10 woolen blankets as Diwali gifts. The children created an atmosphere of excitement in the program with colorful cultural performances.
Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain, while addressing both the institutions, said that Red Cross Society Hoshiarpur will provide all possible assistance for any need in the future.
The Deputy Commissioner extended his heartfelt wishes to the residents of the district on the occasion of Diwali and said that this holy festival should bring happiness, peace, harmony and a message of mutual brotherhood in everyone's lives. He appealed to all the people to celebrate Diwali in a safe, clean and environment-friendly manner, so that this festival becomes a symbol of positivity and love. Red Cross Society Secretary Mangesh Sood, Joint Secretary Aditya Rana, Rajiv Bajaj, Superintendent Puneet Kumar, DCPO Harpreet Kaur, CDPO Daya Rani, Baljinder Singh, Sanjeevan Singh, Pawan Kumar, Harpreet Kaur and other dignitaries were present in the program.
