Amritsar, August 28:- Reacting to the news of demolishing the historic building of Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha located in Quetta, the capital of Pakistan's Balochistan province, and building a commercial shopping plaza there, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has called it a very serious and worrying matter.
In a press statement, Advocate Dhami said that apart from the Sikh Gurus, there are many Gurdwaras related to Sikh history and heritage in Pakistan. These religious and heritage places are not just buildings of bricks and stones, but are symbols of the historical identity and heritage of the Sikh community. Demolishing them to build commercial buildings is disrespectful to Sikh sentiments.
Advocate Dhami asked the Pakistan government and the relevant authorities to immediately intervene and stop the ongoing construction and hand over the property of the Gurdwara Sahib to the Sikh community. The SGPC President said that it is the responsibility of governments to ensure the protection of religious and historical monuments of minority communities. Advocate Dhami also asked the Indian Ministry of External Affairs to raise this matter diplomatically with the Pakistani government.
