Chandigarh, July 15, 2026:- A meeting was held today with the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests by the Class IV Government Employees Union Punjab (1680), Chandigarh. In the meeting, the union officials raised a demand regarding the appointment letters issued by the Chief Minister on July 13, 2026, to the contractual workers of the Forest and Wildlife Department. The union stated that these appointments are not aligned with standard pay scales; instead, workers have been placed on a fixed salary of ?15,000, which constitutes economic exploitation.
The union has demanded that these appointment letters be amended to include applicable pay scales, allowances, and annual increments. Furthermore, other demands raised include rectifying discrepancies in the seniority lists of the remaining contractual workers, ensuring timely payment of salaries, issuing identity cards, clearing outstanding arrears, and implementing minimum wage standards. A total of twelve demands were discussed and decided upon.
The meeting was attended by State President Darshan Singh Lubana, Mela Singh Punawal, Trilochan Gir, Trilochan Mandoli, Chandra Bhan, Darshan Malewal, Harjinder Amloh, Nachhatar Lachhru, Somdatt, Satpal Lang, Pala Samana, Salwinder Singh, and other union leaders.
