Nawanshahr (Des Raj Bali):- The local social service organisation Upkar Coordination Society has strongly condemned the murder of young Parvinder Singh Jhota. After a meeting of the society, its key office-bearers—President J.S. Gidda, General Secretary Rana Parvinder Singh Jassomajra, Finance Secretary Birbal Takhi, Secretary Des Raj Bali, Press Secretary Narinderpal Toor and spokesperson Master Narinder Singh Bharta—said that the broad-daylight killing of Parvinder Singh Jhota, who was working to prevent drug abuse in Mansa, was deeply distressing and alarming.
They said that no person has the right to take the law into their own hands and that such incidents create an atmosphere of fear and mistrust in society. The office-bearers said that it was the responsibility of the government and administration to ensure justice for Parvinder Singh Jhota’s family, as a committed social activist who had launched an anti-drug movement to save thousands of young people had sacrificed his life.
The society appealed to the protesting congregations to choose the path of a peaceful struggle to seek justice during this difficult time. It demanded an impartial investigation into the case, as sought by the struggle committee.
