Una, November 26- District Magistrate Una Jatin Lal has amended orders issued to strengthen law and order, granting licensed weapon holders two days' extension for depositing their weapons and ammunition. Now, all license holders must surrender their weapons by November 28th.
He clarified that violations of the order will result in the suspension of their weapon licenses, and no further extensions will be granted.
The DC stated that it was observed that some license holders were unable to deposit their weapons within the stipulated period due to being out of the state. In light of this, the decision to extend the deadline has been taken. This order has been issued under Section 163 of the BNSS and will remain in effect with immediate effect until further orders.
*Strict instructions to station house officers*
All station house officers in the district have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the order.
Police stations and authorized arms and ammunition dealers will issue proper receipts for deposited weapons and keep them in safe custody. The weapons will be returned to the depositors immediately after the order expires.
*Who will be exempted*
This order will not apply to the following: armed forces and paramilitary forces, home guards, police personnel, security guards of nationalized/scheduled banks, and any other person entrusted with law and order.
Furthermore, the police will carefully assess the threat status of individuals holding self-protection licenses. License holders found to face an immediate and genuine threat to their lives will be exempted from this order.
The DC stated that the district administration's objective is to strengthen peace, security, and law and order in the district. He appealed to all license holders to deposit their weapons within the stipulated timeframe and cooperate with the administration.
