Una, January 30: Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal on Friday provided the remaining installment of Rs. 60,000 each in the form of fixed deposits to 10 eligible beneficiaries of Una district under the Chief Minister Sukh-Ashray Yojana, as financial assistance for marriage.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that under the Chief Minister Sukh-Ashray Yojana, each eligible orphan child receives a total financial assistance of Rs. 2 lakh for marriage. Of this, Rs. 1.40 lakh had already been provided at the time of marriage, while the remaining Rs. 60,000 has now been issued in the form of fixed deposits in the names of the beneficiaries, so that they can have financial security in the future.
He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the state government is committed to the all-round welfare of orphan children. In this direction, several facilities related to education, health, marriage, and financial security are being ensured through the Sukh-Ashray Yojana, benefiting thousands of orphan children across the state.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the objective of this scheme is to connect orphan children with the mainstream of society and make them self-reliant. Under this scheme, financial assistance is being provided for education, marriage, vocational training, house construction, and starting their own startups.
He informed that in Una district, during the last two years, assistance amounting to approximately Rs. 3.75 crore has been provided under various provisions of the Chief Minister Sukh-Ashray Yojana, which has given destitute children security, respect, and a better future.
District Program Officer of Integrated Child Development Project, Narendra Kumar, was also present on this occasion.
