Hansi (Dinkar Gawri): Taking a strict stance against the Executive Officer (EO) and Secretary of the Municipal Council for their absence from the weekly review meeting held at the District Secretariat complex on Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rahul Narwal has issued them a show-cause notice.
DC Dr. Narwal has directed both officials to submit their responses within two days, making it clear that in the absence of a satisfactory explanation, strict disciplinary action will be initiated against them.
DC Dr. Rahul Narwal stated that the administration organizes a scheduled weekly meeting with the objective of regularly reviewing the Municipal Council's operations and monitoring sanitation, development works, and public amenities within the city. Attendance at these meetings has been made mandatory for the concerned officials to ensure that the progress of ongoing works can be accurately assessed and necessary directives can be issued.
He noted that during the meeting held on Tuesday, the Municipal Council's EO and Secretary were found to be absent without any prior intimation—an act that demonstrates serious negligence regarding administrative duties. Only the Sanitation Inspector was present at the meeting on behalf of the Municipal Council, which clearly indicates that the concerned officials are not exercising due seriousness in the discharge of their responsibilities.
The DC emphasized that the administration's priority is to ensure the smooth functioning of the city's sanitation systems, development projects, and civic amenities. To this end, the active participation of officials is absolutely essential. Any form of negligence or indiscipline will not be tolerated.
He directed the concerned officials to ensure that such a situation does not recur in the future and that all officials discharge their duties by attending scheduled meetings on time. Furthermore, he added that the administration is maintaining constant and strict vigilance to ensure transparency and accountability in the operations of the Municipal Council.
