Amritsar:- As per the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, in a major success during the ongoing campaign to make Punjab a safe state, Amritsar Commissionerate Police has busted a module related to cross-border arms and drugs smuggling by arresting two accused and recovering 2.225 kg heroin, six modern pistols and 12 live cartridges from the possession of the accused. This information was given here today by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav.
The arrested persons have been identified as Sukhdev Singh alias Sukh (23), a resident of village Chicha in Amritsar, and Harjinder Singh alias Jinder (37), a resident of village Lodhi Gujjar in Amritsar. Both the arrested accused are habitual criminals with criminal cases of kidnapping and illegal possession of arms already registered against them.
The recovered pistols include one .30 bore (made in China), two 9 mm Glock pistols (made in Austria), one 9 mm Glock pistol (made in the US) and two .30 bore pistols (made in Turkey).

DGP Gaurav Yadav said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused were in touch with cross-border smugglers, who allegedly received consignments of heroin and weapons sent through drones from across the border and further supplied it to criminal elements in Punjab.
The DGP said that the forward-backward links in this case are being investigated to identify other members associated with the network. Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that acting on intelligence information, the police team arrested the accused Sukhdev alias Sukh with 2.225 kg heroin. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused was actively involved in the drug smuggling business.
He said that during further investigation, the police identified another accused named Harjinder Singh alias Jinder and arrested him along with four pistols. Based on the disclosures made by the arrested accused Harjinder alias Jinder, the police recovered two more pistols from the place given by him.
The Police Commissioner said that the accused Sukhdev alias Sukh was wanted in an earlier case registered at Chheharta police station, in which his four accomplices were earlier arrested along with seven pistols and 12 live cartridges.
