Nawanshahr 4 December:- Today, here, CPI (ML) New Democracy District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar in collaboration with Kirti Kisan Union and Rural Mazdoor Union held a political conference against the abolition of the Aur block, in which a large number of farmers, laborers, women, people-oriented personalities from the villages of Aur block, besides leaders and activists of Kirti Kisan Union, Rural Mazdoor Union participated.
Members of the Block Bachao Sangharsh Committee also came in special support. Addressing the people present on this occasion, CPIML leader Advocate Daljit Singh, Kirti Kisan Union District President Surinder Singh Bains, State Committee Member Bhupinder Singh Waraich, Area President Surinder Singh Mehrampur, Block Bachao Sangharsh Committee Member Raj Kumar Mahal Khurd, Journalist Lakhvir Singh Khurd, District Leader of Rural Workers Union Hari Ram Rasulpuri, Block Bachao Sangharsh Committee Member Raj Kumar Mahal Khurd, Buta Singh Mehmoodpur, Ramji Das Khadkuwal, Sukhwinder Singh Dhawa said that it is a dictatorial government policy to dismantle the institution built by the Punjab government for the convenience of the people without consulting the people.
Considering the public protest against the abolition of the block by passing resolutions by 74 village panchayats and political parties, farmers, laborers and social service organizations through dharna and chakka jam, now the Block Samiti and District Council elections have been imposed.
The gathering unanimously passed a resolution calling upon the people of all the villages to boycott the elections of Aur Block and the village panchayats to hold special sessions of gram sabhas and pass special resolutions against the abolition of the block. Along with this, all the political parties were strongly appealed not to participate in the elections keeping in mind the interests of the villages of the block.
Because when the institution for which the elections are being held has been abolished, then there is no point in the people of the block participating in the elections and voting. The conference decided that by campaigning from village to village, the people will be told to boycott the elections of Aur Block and the struggle will be intensified to force the government to restore the block with public pressure.
The stage was conducted by Master Narinder Singh Udapar. On this occasion, Kamlesh Kaur, Ka. Juginder Singh, Karnail Singh, Baldev Singh, Mohan Singh Tank, Satnam Singh Pradhan, Charan Singh along with other personalities and activists of the area were present.
