Una, March 20: Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahendra Pal Gurjar directed officials to ensure that all development works being executed under the Swachh Bharat Mission are completed within the stipulated timeframe and to a high standard of quality. He emphasized that no negligence whatsoever in the implementation of these schemes would be tolerated, and that regular monitoring of the works must be ensured.
He issued these directives on Friday while presiding over a meeting convened to review the progress of various developmental schemes under the Swachh Bharat Mission, sponsored by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA). During the meeting, the progress of works being undertaken under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) was reviewed. Additionally, works related to MGNREGA and the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (Rural) were also discussed. Officials from the concerned departments participated in the meeting and presented detailed information regarding the status of the schemes' implementation.
He informed that the targets set for works sanctioned under the Swachh Bharat Mission for the financial year 2025-26 have been nearly achieved, and instructions were issued to complete the remaining works by March 31, 2026. He stated that under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural): for Grey Water Management, an expenditure of ?47,88,700 has been incurred across 13 Gram Panchayats in the Una block of the district; for Solid Waste Management, ?14,42,000 has been allocated for 24 Gram Panchayats in the Una block; and under the Individual Household Latrine component, a target was set to construct 240 latrines in each of the development blocks—Amb, Bangana, Gagret, Haroli, and Una—towards the completion of which ?1.44 crore has been expended. Furthermore, under the Community Sanitary Complex component, against a target of 150 works across all development blocks, ?3.24 crore is currently being expended on 108 works. 
The Additional Deputy Commissioner stated that the construction work for solid waste management facilities has been completed in Gram Panchayat Ajauli (Una Development Block), Panchayat Dhadhri (Amb Development Block), Panchayat Pandoga (Haroli Development Block), and Muchhali (Bangana Development Block) within the district.
He noted that the government is implementing numerous schemes for the development of rural areas and emphasized the need to ensure that the benefits of these initiatives reach eligible beneficiaries in a timely manner. Instructing officials to execute these schemes within stipulated timelines and to the highest quality standards, he urged them to work in close coordination so that, through the holistic development of its rural areas, Una district may emerge as the leading district in the state in terms of development.
