Hoshiarpur: Ashutosh Sharma, State President of Shri Bhagwan Parshuram Sena, submitted a detailed written complaint to City Police Station SHO, Honorable Gursahib Singh Ji, regarding the serious matter of deliberate tarnishing of the image of the Brahmin community and high-ranking Brahmin officials through the objectionable title and trailer of the Netflix film "Ghuskhor Pandit." Akshay Parashar from the Legal Cell stated that the complaint stated that the film's trailer depicts actor Manoj Bajpayee in a police uniform as a "Ghuskhor Pandit," directly linking the term "Pandit/Brahmin" to corruption.
This not only hurts the religious sentiments of the Brahmin community, but also collectively defames honest Brahmin officials working in the police and other public services. This act is likely to spread animosity in society and undermine public trust. Shri Bhagwan Parshuram Sena has demanded that an FIR be immediately registered against actor Manoj Bajpayee, producer/director Neeraj Pandey, senior Netflix India official Monica Shergill, and screenwriter Ritesh Shah under Section 196 (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita) (BNS), 2023, and other relevant laws, under Section 299 (BNS) – intentionally hurting religious sentiments, Section 356 (BNS) – defamation of any community, Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 – broadcasting objectionable content through digital medium, and that strict legal action be taken against them, including adding other appropriate sections during the investigation, and ensuring their arrest.
A thorough investigation into Netflix India's role has also been demanded. Shri Bhagwan Parshuram Sena has demanded that in this case, an FIR be immediately registered against actor Manoj Bajpayee, producer/director Neeraj Pandey, senior Netflix India official Monika Shergill, and screenwriter Ritesh Shah under sections 196 (BNS) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 and other relevant laws, including Section 299 (BNS) – intentionally hurting religious sentiments, Section 356 (BNS) – defamation of any community, Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 – broadcasting objectionable content through digital medium, and that strict legal action be taken against them, including adding other appropriate sections during the investigation, and their arrest be ensured.
A thorough investigation into the role of Netflix India has also been demanded. Akshay Kumar, Anmol Handa, and Shiv Sena Hindustan's State President, Shri Rajendra Rana, from the legal cell of Shri Bhagwan Parshuram Sena, were also present on the occasion, and all unanimously supported the demand for strict action against this objectionable film. The SHO of the City Police Station, Honorable Gursahib Singh Ji, assured the delegation that impartial action would be taken based on all the facts, evidence, and legal provisions of the case. He stated that no one is above the law and that necessary action would be taken promptly after a proper investigation of the complaint. Despite this assurance from the SHO, the organization clarified that it would maintain a close watch on the entire matter. Shiv Sena Hindustan's State President, Rajinder Rana, clarified that if an FIR is not filed promptly and strict action is not taken against the culprits, the matter will be taken to senior police officers, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and the court, and the movement will be intensified, for which the concerned administration and platforms will be solely responsible.
