Nawanshahr, (Des Raj Bali):- A commitment made to serve humanity can continue to benefit society even after life. Body donation after death is a noble initiative through which a significant contribution can be made to medical education, scientific research and the training of future doctors. Civil Surgeon of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Dr. Aman Sood, made these remarks while appreciating the initiative of a body-donating husband-and-wife couple from village Udowal.

He said that retired Army Naik Tarsem Singh, son of Shri Amar Chand, and his wife, Smt. Kulwinder Kaur, have taken an inspiring pledge to donate their bodies after death. Taking such a step for the welfare of humanity by a retired soldier who has already served the nation is an excellent example of the spirit of service.

Civil Surgeon Dr. Aman Sood said that human bodies help medical students understand the structure of the human body and the functioning of various organs through practical learning. This strengthens medical education and research and contributes to training doctors to provide better care to patients in the future. He said that spreading awareness about body donation and explaining its importance to people is the need of the hour.

He appealed to the residents of the district to learn about humanitarian initiatives such as body donation, discuss the matter with their family members and, if willing, register according to the prescribed procedure of the concerned medical institution.

On this occasion, Shri Ratan Kumar Jain, General Secretary of Doaba Seva Samiti, Nawanshahr, said that the Samiti has so far motivated 153 people to pledge their bodies for donation after death. The Samiti assists people willing to donate their bodies by helping them fill out forms and forwarding them to the concerned medical institutions for registration according to the prescribed procedure. He said that spreading awareness about body donation is an important social responsibility. He appealed to district residents to understand the importance of this noble cause and encourage others to donate their bodies so that human bodies can be used for medical education and research, allowing service to humanity to continue even after death. He also informed that the pledge was taken with the consent of the couple’s son, Shri Harkanw aljit Singh, daughters, Smt. Baljinder Kaur and Smt. Pawandeep Kaur, and brother, Shri Jaspal Singh. The family’s consent for this noble cause also reflects social awareness and a spirit of dedication to humanity.
