Una, February 20:- In view of the annual examinations for students in Una district, the district administration has adopted a strict approach to enforce noise regulations. In order to provide a peaceful and conducive environment for students, Una Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal has issued instructions for strict adherence to the regulations governing the use of sound amplifying devices.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that, keeping in mind the examination period, the use of loudspeakers, DJs, and other sound amplifying devices should be limited to the prescribed time limit and within the prescribed decibel standards.
*Loudspeakers banned without permission after 10 pm*
He stated that under the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, the use of loudspeakers without prior permission is prohibited from 10 pm to 6 am. In residential areas, noise levels are permitted up to a maximum of 55 decibels during the day and 45 decibels at night. In commercial areas, these limits are set at 65 and 55 decibels, respectively. A 100-meter radius around hospitals, educational institutions, and courts has been declared a silence zone, with a limit of 50 decibels during the day and 40 decibels at night.
*Weddings and religious events must also comply with regulations*
The Deputy Commissioner specifically emphasized that sound amplifying devices used at weddings, religious and social gatherings, processions, vigils, ceremonies, and religious sites must operate within established rules and time limits. Unnecessary loud noise during examination periods can disrupt students' studies, so cooperation is expected from all organizers and institutions.
*Instructions for strict action against violations*
He has instructed the district police to ensure action is taken in accordance with regulations in case of violations of noise regulations. He has also instructed the concerned officials to maintain regular monitoring.
The Deputy Commissioner has urged all religious, social and public institutions and common citizens to cooperate with the administration in the effective enforcement of noise regulations keeping in mind the interests of the students.
He said that it is the collective responsibility of all of us to maintain a peaceful, disciplined and harmonious environment in the district during the examination period, so that the students can perform better in their examinations.
