Garhshankar: A scholarship distribution ceremony was organized at Babbar Akali Memorial Khalsa College, Garhshankar, under the leadership of Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera. During the event, the Sikh Human Development Foundation (SHDF) USA distributed cheques totaling ?7,70,000 to 27 students of the college to support their higher education.
S. Gurbir Singh Brar, Managing Director of SHDF USA, attended the ceremony as the chief guest, while S. Karandeep Singh Cheema, Joint Secretary of the Sikh Education Society, attended as the guest of honor. Also present on the occasion were Dr. Jagtar Singh (Department of Physical Education, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Chandigarh, and Senate Member, Panjab University, Chandigarh), Dr. Jagdeep Singh (Department of Punjabi, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Chandigarh), Prabhleen Kaur (Program Coordinator, SHDF), Ajit Singh (Field Operative, SHDF), Jaspreet Singh, and Raza Singh.
While handing over the scholarship cheques to the students, the chief guest and other dignitaries wished them a bright future and encouraged them to excel in their higher education. Welcoming the guests, Principal Dr. Amandeep Heera expressed gratitude to SHDF USA on behalf of the institution for providing the scholarship funds.
He noted that this initiative by the foundation has provided significant financial assistance to more than two dozen students of the college for pursuing higher education. He stated that the institution, the students, and their parents would remain forever indebted to the Sikh Human Development Foundation. He also mentioned that the foundation has approved scholarship funds for some additional students of the college as well.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Arvinder Kaur, Coordinator of the Scholarship Committee, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Kanwar Kulwant Singh, Head of the Commerce Department. The stage was conducted by Prof. Kanika performed the role. Dr. Janaki Agarwal, Dr. Harvinder Kaur, Prof. Jatinder Kaur, Dr. Amandeep Kaur Dhillon, Dr. Navjot Kaur, Prof. Manveer Kumar, and others were present on the occasion.
