Chennai:- A Chennai Metro train stalled between two stations due to a technical glitch on Tuesday morning, after which 20 passengers trapped in the metro were safely evacuated. According to the information given by the authorities, the incident, which took place between the High Court and Central stations, caused panic among the passengers. Later, they were taken out of the train and the train services were resumed at 6.30 am.
Chennai Metro Rail said in a statement, “Due to a technical glitch, the metro train stalled between the High Court station and the Purachi Thalaivar Dr. MG Ramachandran Central Metro station. People were immediately evacuated and the train was derailed. Chennai Metro Rail expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to the passengers. The release said that the service was restored at 6.20 am.
Chennai Metro Rail said in a post on social media platform 'X', "Metro train services between Airport and Wimco Nagar depot on the Blue Line have resumed as normal. Metro services from Central Metro to St. Thomas Mount on the Green Line are also running smoothly."
