Karnal, April 20—A sensational late-night incident in Karnal has spread panic throughout the area. In the Karna Vihar locality, unidentified miscreants opened fire indiscriminately at a young man riding a scooter, leaving him critically injured. According to reports, the injured youth has been identified as Ujjwal, alias Monu. He was returning home from the hospital after inquiring about the health of a relative.
On the way, two miscreants riding a motorcycle intercepted him and, under the pretext of lighting a cigarette, asked him for a lighter. Subsequently, they confirmed his identity by showing him a photograph of himself, and then shot him four times in the legs.
After carrying out the attack, the accused fled the scene. Upon receiving information about the incident, the police rushed to the spot, and a forensic team was also summoned. The investigating officer stated that the matter is being probed with utmost seriousness, and efforts are underway to determine whether the incident stems from an old rivalry or some other motive.
According to his family members, Ujjwal did not have any disputes with anyone. He has currently been admitted to a hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. The police are scouring footage from nearby CCTV cameras and are actively engaged in a manhunt for the accused. Officials have expressed confidence that the attackers will be arrested soon.
