Nawanshahr, September 7:- A check dam is being constructed at a cost of more than Rs 1 crore for rainwater conservation on the sacred land blessed by the presence of Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji, under the leadership of National Chairperson of All India Adi Dharam Mission Bibi Kamlesh Kaur Gheda and National President L. R. Virdi.
Chairman of the Committee of Sri Guru Ravidas Historical Religious Shrine Sri Charan Chhoh Ganga Amritkund Sachkhand Sri Khuralgarh Sahib Shri Nazar Ram Mann, President Sant Surinder Das, National Vice President of All India Adi Dharam Mission Gurlal Saila, Chief Treasurer Sant Karam Chand, In-charge of the Reception Committee Jagdish Kumar, Head Granthi Sant Girdhari Lal, Councillor Prince Chaudhary, Rana Naginder Singh Tikka, owner of Gazri Treat, and Rana Raj Kumar Raju Garhi Mansowal were present when Bibi Neelam Rouri provided detailed information about the project.
She said that the work had remained stalled since 2015 and continuous demands had been made for its completion. Once completed, the project will greatly help in stopping and conserving water that flows rapidly through the ravine during the rainy season.
The construction of the check dam will make it possible to use rainwater efficiently and will also make an important contribution to raising the groundwater level. In addition, farmers and the general public of the area are expected to benefit from this work for a long time.
The shrine committee welcomed the project and said that this development work being carried out on the sacred land is also important from the perspective of environmental and water conservation. They demanded that the construction of the check dam be completed soon in accordance with the prescribed standards and with high-quality workmanship, so that people can benefit from it during the coming rainy season as well.
Chairman of the shrine committee Shri Nazar Ram Mann and President Sant Surinder Das said that with the support of the devotees, a shed measuring 65 feet in width and 100 feet in length had earlier been constructed, and it is now being doubled in size, again with the support of the devotees, so that during the December 31 programme, devotees will be able to enjoy the programme inside the shed instead of having to remain outside.
On this occasion, Executive Engineer of the Water Resources Department Bhupinderpal Singh, Sub-Divisional Officer of Water Resources Tarundeep Singh, Canal Patwari Mohit Kalia, Media In-charge of All India Adi Dharam Mission Gurbakhsh Singh Mehe, President of Garhshankar Municipal Council Som Nath Bangar, Manjit Muggowal, grandson of Babu Mangu Ram Muggowal, great-grandson Lokesh Kumar Lavi, Punjab President Sukhchain Singh Kala, Baba Dayal Chand Banga, Dr. Paramjit Madar, Chairman of Panchayat Samiti, Som Nath Gangar, Jarnail Singh Kullewal, Sant Harbans Singh, Sant Naranjan Singh, Master Ram Das Harma, Dr. Satpal, Dr. Bahadur Singh, Amrik Ghulal, Ramesh Sahota Himachal, Tinku Adon, Tara Chand Hoshiarpur and several other leaders and members were present.
