Patiala:- As per the instructions of Bahujan Samaj Party Punjab President Dr. Avtar Singh Karimpuri, the BSP Patiala district unit protested against the brutal atrocities committed by the DSP, SHO, and other police personnel in Barnala, who mercilessly beat sanitation workers, including women, on their heads with lathis. As a result, they were severely injured and are still undergoing treatment in a government hospital. These police officers also used casteist slurs against the sanitation women.
In this regard, under the leadership of BSP Punjab Vice President Baldev Singh Mehra, General Secretary Zoga Singh Panodian, District President Major Singh Tibbi, and Jarnail Singh (Retired ITO and Incharge Patiala Rural Constituency), a memorandum addressed to Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria was submitted to Duty Magistrate Karnbir Singh. The memorandum demands strict legal action against the guilty police officers and the immediate fulfillment of the demands of the sanitation workers, including regularizing their services and increasing their salaries.
On this occasion, District Vice President Darshan Singh Nadiyai, Patiala Rural Incharge Surjit Singh Goria, Patiala Rural President Ravi Kumar, Patiala Rural Vice President Karnail Singh M.E.C., Amar Singh Sampla, Patiala Urban President Lal Chand, retired Panchayat Officer Harbans Singh, Cashier Karnail Singh, Office Secretary Jagmel Singh Jassal, Ramdhan, Magghar Singh Kansuha, Harbans Singh Rohta, and a large number of office-bearers from all assembly constituencies were present.
