Chandigarh:- Brahmin Samaj Welfare Front Punjab has strongly condemned the lathi charge on students protesting for their demands at Jantar Mantar in Delhi and has demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The front's state president, Advocate Harinderpal Sharma Kaurjiwala, said that in a democracy, every citizen has the constitutional right to peacefully protest for their legitimate demands. He said that the use of force by the police on the students reflects the authoritarian thinking of the government.
Supporting this protest, the front's youth wing Punjab president, Piyush Davesar, said that the central government is playing with the future of the youth and students. He alleged that instead of listening to the demands of the students, an attempt is being made to suppress their voice with the force of lathi, which will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He said that the front stands with the aggrieved students like a rock.
Senior leader of the organization Bhushan Sharma said that the government should resolve the issue through dialogue instead of using force. He demanded that a case be immediately registered against the accused police personnel who used force on the unarmed protesters and strict action be taken.
On this occasion, Dr. Rajkumar Dhakala demanded that all the detained students and protesters be released immediately and unconditionally. He also demanded that compensation be announced for the injured students and the issues raised by the CJP be resolved soon.
The front warned that if the demands of the students were not resolved soon, the organization would start a major agitation across Punjab. Along with this, the front reiterated its demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, taking moral responsibility.
