Karnal, July 2: Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Dr. Anand Kumar Sharma stated that, in accordance with the Election Commission of India's guidelines, the work of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is being carried out in the district. BLOs who perform well in this task will be honored by the administration, while action will be taken under the Representation of the People Act, 1950, against those who show negligence.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner instructed all EROs and supervisors to immediately provide any additional manpower or facilities required by the BLOs. BLOs were also directed to inform the EROs—through their supervisors—of any difficulties encountered during the SIR process so that these issues could be resolved, ensuring the work is conducted transparently and smoothly.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Anand Kumar Sharma was issuing these instructions on Thursday at the Kalpana Chawla Medical College auditorium during a meeting with 293 BLOs who had shown poor performance in the SIR digitization work. He emphasized that no negligence in the SIR work would be tolerated; strict action would be taken against any officer or employee found remiss in their duties.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the SDMs to immediately appoint additional staff if needed to complete the task on time, ensuring the digitization process proceeds smoothly without interruption. The meeting was attended by ADC Dr. Rahul Raiya, ACUT Soham Shailendra, SDM Karnal Devendra Sharma, SDM Indri Raman Gupta, SDM Gharaunda Rajesh Soni, SDM Assandh Sumit Sihag, and SDM Nilokheri Ashok Kumar, along with all BLOs and supervisors.
