Una, December 22: A block-level awareness camp was organized at PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Dhamandari, under the Integrated Child Development Project Una, focusing on menstrual hygiene and the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child) campaign. The camp was presided over by Supervisor Nanki Devi.
In her address, Supervisor Nanki Devi said that proper nutrition is essential for building a strong future. To realize the vision of a malnutrition-free India, it is necessary to ensure proper nutrition reaches every individual, and the role of the officers and employees of the Women and Child Development Department is extremely important in this. She explained that the main objective of the Poshan Abhiyan (Nutrition Campaign) is to make adolescents, pregnant and lactating women aware of the prescribed nutrition and to provide them with proper nutrition.
She gave detailed information about the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign and also made the students aware of good touch and bad touch. She said that for the success of these campaigns, public participation, along with the inclusive participation of public representatives, school management committees, government departments, social organizations, and the public and private sectors, is essential.
During the camp, Dr. Hemant Kumar from the Ayurveda Department gave detailed information to the students about the importance of menstrual hygiene. Highlighting diet, personal hygiene, and precautions during menstruation, he said that a balanced and nutritious diet can prevent problems like anemia. Calling nutrition the cornerstone of a healthy life, he encouraged the children to adopt regular and proper eating habits.
A speech competition was also organized for the children during the camp, in which Ishita Devi secured the first position, Angel the second, and Navneet the third. The winning participants were honored with mementos.
On this occasion, Mahila Mandal President Shivali Dhiman, school teachers, Anganwadi workers Pushpa Devi, Raj, Santosh, Anu Wala, Deepika, Nisha, and other dignitaries were present.
