Mokwi, September 11:- The Indian junior women’s hockey team registered a historic victory by scoring 19 goals against Pakistan. The Pakistani team failed to score even a single goal. This is India’s biggest-ever victory in women’s junior hockey.
On Thursday, defending champions India secured their place in the semifinals by defeating Pakistan in the quarterfinal of the Junior Asia Cup. India scored 10 goals in the first half and nine in the second half. Pooja Malik scored a hat-trick for India. Sanika Chandrakant Mane, Madhu Sidar, Supriya and Roshni Aind scored two goals each.
India scored five goals in the very first quarter; Pooja Sahu opened the scoring in the 7th minute, followed by goals from Roshni Aind (9th), Tanushree Dinesh Kadu (11th), Sukhveer Kaur (13th) and Sanika Mane (13th). In the second quarter, Madhu Sidar, Geeta Yadav, Sanika Mane, Tanuja Toppo and Pooja Malik scored, giving India a 10-0 lead at half-time.
In the third quarter, Purnima Yadav, Madhu Sidar and Supriya scored goals. In the final quarter, Krishna Sharma, Pooja Malik, Supriya, Binima Dhan and Roshni Aind scored. Pooja Malik completed her hat-trick by scoring in the 49th and 51st minutes, while Roshni scored India’s 19th goal in the 60th minute.
