Hashiarpur: Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal today asked the district banks to contribute to the establishment of self-employment by providing loans to the youth and weaker sections so that they can run their businesses during the meeting of the District Advisory Committee and District Level Review Committee held here by the district's lead bank Punjab National Bank, so that they can run their businesses.
Punjab National Bank Circle Head Sanjeev Kumar, Chief Lead District Manager Chetan Joshi, Reserve Bank of India LDO Sanjeev Singh, DDM NABARD Rajat Chhabra, DDM NABARD Arun Kumar, General Manager District Industries Centre Rajinder Kumar Bhatia, DTE PNB Arsethi and representatives of 33 different banks along with senior officers of various departments were also present during the meeting.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal was informed that a total of Rs 6343.68 crores were given by various banks of the district under the loan scheme for the year 2024-25 till September 2024. While the target was 6694.28 crores. Out of this, Rs 4800.39 crores were given in the priority sector and Rs 1543.29 crores were given in the non-priority sector. He said that Rs 2945.86 crores were given in the priority sector for agriculture, Rs 1770.47 crores for the non-agricultural sector, Rs 84.06 crores were given as loans to the remaining priority sector.
Stressing on the need to increase the CD rate, he said that banks should pay special attention to this so that more and more people, especially educated unemployed youth and people from weaker sections of the society, can get loans and start economic activities and raise their standard of living.
Circle Head Sanjeev Kumar also urged the banks to give maximum loans to self-help groups. He also asked the banks to inform the people about various schemes, to speed up the process of giving loans to agriculture and small industries, service sector, government programs, such as Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Sirjan Programme, National Urban Livelihood Mission, Dairy Tie-up Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Swayanidhi Programme; He also clarified to the banks that maximum poor people should be insured under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana. It was also informed that the deposits in banks in district Hoshiarpur which were Rs. 42843 crore in September, 2023, have increased to Rs. 47372 crore in September, 2024. Similarly, the total loan amount given by the banks, which was Rs. 12137 crore in September, 2023, increased to Rs. 13298 crore in September, 2024.
Chief Lead District Manager Chetan Joshi asked for maximum loans to bring further improvement in the CD rate. He advised the bank officials to give maximum loans to new entrepreneurs so that new industries/businesses can be set up in the district and people can get more employment opportunities. He also thanked the district administration for supporting the banks.
