Chandigarh: The play reading session of the masterpiece drama ‘Katra Katra Zindagi’ by renowned playwright Devinder Daman was organized today by the Punjabi Lekhak Sabha Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Punjab Arts Council. Held at the Punjab Kala Bhawan, the play was read by Devinder Daman and his wife, the acclaimed theater, television, and film actress Jaswant Daman.
The audience, present in large numbers, intently enjoyed this nearly hour-and-a-half-long performance.
This play reading is based on the dialogue between a married couple, where they discuss the seriousness of relationships, the joys and sorrows of life, the events occurring around them, grievances, happiness, and hardships. Through this, they convey the message that life is a grand combination of small, little events.
Manjit Kaur Meet, Vice President of the Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, welcomed everyone in her poetic style and praised the theatrical journey of the Daman couple.
Conducting the stage proceedings, General Secretary Bhupinder Singh Malik stated that this play is dedicated to those steps whose journey is still ongoing. After the play reading, Devinder Daman mentioned that this performance, held after a long time, gave him renewed energy. Jaswant Daman, following her brilliant performance, said that ‘Katra Katra Zindagi’ reflects the emotions of her own life.
Eminent theater director Shabdish said that Devinder Daman is a guiding light for many theater artists like him.
Academic expert Dr. Deepak Manmohan Singh, referring to his long-standing association with the Daman couple, said that it is because of the great penance of such personalities that theater remains alive. Deepak Sharma Chanarthal, President of the Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, thanked everyone and said that such plays hold a mirror to society.
The presence of a large number of writers, theater and film artists, and intellectuals was the hallmark of this event.
