Karnal, July 15: A case involving the alleged attempted abduction of a schoolgirl has come to light in Karnal. The incident occurred around 7:30 AM on Tuesday while the girl was on her way to school from home. The school is located approximately 100 meters from her house, and the incident took place near the school premises.
According to her family, the girl's mother had set out to drop her off at school but returned home because the child had forgotten her water bottle. After retrieving the bottle, the mother walked her to the corner of the street before heading back. The girl was then proceeding towards the school alone when an unidentified young man stopped her.
It is alleged that the man tried to render the girl unconscious by pressing a handkerchief over her mouth. Just then, a motorcyclist passed by. Startled by the arrival of another person, the accused released the girl and fled the scene. Somehow managing to compose herself, the girl returned home and informed her family about the entire incident.
Following the incident, the family examined footage from nearby CCTV cameras. The footage shows a suspicious young man following the girl and repeatedly looking back at her. Subsequently, the family lodged a complaint with the police.
The family states that such an incident occurring near the school in broad daylight has raised serious concerns regarding children's safety. They have demanded the immediate arrest of the accused and a strengthening of security measures in the area.
The police have initiated an investigation based on the complaint. Officials state that efforts are underway to identify the suspect using the CCTV footage, and he will be arrested soon.
