Karnal, July 14: Haryana Assembly Speaker and Gharaunda MLA Harvinder Kalyan, as part of his planned tour program on Monday, inspected the flood-resilient work being carried out by the Irrigation Department to strengthen the Yamuna River embankments in view of the monsoon season. He directed officials to complete the final phase of the work as soon as possible to ensure the safety and security of life and property.
Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan first inspected the Lalupura Yamuna River embankment and reviewed the flood protection work. On this occasion, villagers requested the construction of a ramp for the convenience of animals in the Yamuna River. Taking cognizance of this, Harvinder Kalyan immediately directed the Irrigation Department officials to complete the work expeditiously. Harvinder Kalyan then inspected the construction and repair of new studs in Manglaura and spoke with the villagers. The villagers expressed their gratitude to Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan and the Irrigation Department officials for this year's flood protection measures, as directed by the Irrigation Department. Speaking to the media, Kalyan stated that the Haryana government had approved approximately ?25 crore (approximately $250 million) for flood protection measures in Karnal district this year. This amount is being used to construct 46 new studs and repair 10 old studs in the district. He expressed his happiness by stating that in the Gharaunda Assembly constituency alone, Irrigation Department officials have constructed 32 new studs and are repairing 9 studs, which will cost an estimated ?15.25 crore (approximately $150 million) from the district's total budget. He also noted that the Irrigation Department has constructed 26 new studs for the first time in a row from Manglaura to Dhakwala. Present on the occasion were SDM Rajesh Soni, Irrigation Department Superintending Engineer Sanjay Rahar, Executive Engineer Manoj, SDO Karnail Singh, BDPO Monica, and prominent villagers.

Irrigation Department Superintending Engineer Sanjay Rahar stated that 32 new studs have been constructed and nine repaired in the Gharaunda Assembly constituency alone. Five new studs have been constructed in Kundakalan village, seven in Dhakwala, ten in Dilwara, and nine in Mangalaura, while one in Khirajpur, four in Lalupura, and four in Sadarpur have been repaired.

Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan planted a tree on the Yamuna River embankment in Lalupura village and gave a message for environmental protection. He said that the monsoon season has begun, and such an environment is conducive to tree planting.
