Nawanshahr, September 16:- In view of the upcoming Assembly Elections-2027, the district administration has started preparations to conduct the election process in a free, fair and peaceful manner. As part of these preparations, a meeting regarding the identification of vulnerable polling stations and security arrangements was held at the District Administrative Complex under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Gulpreet Singh Aulakh. SSP Tushar Gupta was also specially present at the meeting.
During the meeting, various aspects related to vulnerability mapping for the upcoming Assembly Elections, identification of critical polling stations, expenditure-sensitive Assembly constituencies and expenditure-sensitive locations were discussed in detail.
The Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer directed the concerned officials to review the vulnerable polling stations identified during the Assembly Elections-2022 and Lok Sabha Elections-2024 and update the required information for the upcoming elections. He said that the vulnerability of polling stations should be assessed in accordance with the prescribed guidelines of the Election Commission so that a safe and smooth voting environment could be ensured for voters at every polling station.
The officials were directed to study the experiences of previous elections, the condition of polling stations and other related facts and ensure the necessary action.
He said that the identification of vulnerable polling stations and locations is an important process under which potential threats that may affect the election process are assessed in a timely manner. Therefore, better coordination between Returning Officers and officials of the Police Department is essential.
During the meeting, Returning Officers and Police Department officials were directed to hold joint meetings with supervisors and the concerned Station House Officers and complete the process of identifying vulnerable polling stations, critical polling stations and expenditure-sensitive areas. At the same time, security arrangements and other election-related arrangements should also be reviewed as required.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials to ensure that all work is completed within the prescribed time limit in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission.
